Frequently asked questions.
Do you accept insurance?
RiverSong Counseling is a private pay practice. We do not accept insurance payments or plans. If requested, we are able to provide a superbill to apply for out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company. We accept American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa, cash, checks, and HSA or FSA payment.
Private pay is beneficial in regards to privacy and the time it takes for insurance companies to process their claims. With being a private pay practice you are able to receive more personalized and confidential care without the limitations provided by insurance companies. Sessions can be tailored to meet your specific needs and goals. Private pay also gives the opportunity to increase availability, ensuring that it is possible to dedicate the time necessary for your continued progress and well-being.

How does the process of counseling work?
Once you have scheduled a session you are able to fill out your paper work online. It is recommended that you participate in weekly or bi-weekly counseling sessions at first in order to identify your goals and what you would like to work on in order to ensure that all your needs are being met. We will discuss your progress and any adjustments we need to make regarding your goals as time moves on. You can expect to better manage your thoughts and feelings, increase your awareness about what is going on in your world, and be able to see improvement in your overall well-being.
Feel free during these sessions to bring something to drink or eat. You can also listen to music throughout the session if that is something that brings you comfort. There are plenty of fidgets if that is something that is beneficial for you as well. It is important that you feel comfortable, safe, and not judged while you are attending your sessions. You being able to meet your goals and see the progress that you are making is what is most important.
